In March 2007, the South Coast Air Quality Management Board’s hearing panel granted Gregg Industries a permit to continue operating while continuing to reduce odors. We wish to thank you for your patience as we have worked with AQMD and our neighbors to detect and reduce odors. Our pledge is to keep you informed about our activities and no topic is too big or small in this effort.
We were recently asked by a resident about chemicals used at Gregg, including mistaken claims by some that we use chemicals called Furan and Dioxin.
Furan is sometimes confused for a safe product we use that is made from corncobs, rice hulls and sugar cane called “furfuryl alcohol.” Furan which we do not use at Gregg is like Dioxin. We also do not use Dioxin at Gregg.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our production process. Our website contains technical information for our customers that may confuse people not familiar with the foundry industry. We want to make sure that our process and practices are as transparent as possible.
At Gregg Industries we manufacture engine parts, some of which help
to reduce air emissions.
As we look at the fight against global warming, having the capacity
to manufacture these parts in the USA is as important as the parts we
produced at Gregg during the World War II effort. Please feel free to call if you have any questions.
